This section is presented through illustrations and narration. It describes Iroquois life at a time when the Iroquois people had forgotten the Creator’s Original Teachings. It visually demonstrates the need for peace and sets the stage for the next section, Birth of the Great Law.
d&ttimes02.gif (16287 bytes) This map shows the territories of the 5 Iroquois Nations at the darkest time of their existence. Vengeful wars and constant feuding had taken over their lives. The arrow points to the territory of the Wendat Nation. From here it is said that the mother and grandmother of the Peacemaker fled their village to escape this turmoil.

This sketch by Raymond Skye demonstrates the problems that existed among the Iroquois. It shows the obvious need for the Peacemaker’s message of peace.

d&ttimes04.gif (9719 bytes) Another sketch by Mr. Skye shows the mother and grandmother fleeing their village and escaping deep into the forest far away from all the warring. At the time nobody knew, including the mother, of the impending birth of the child who would become known
as the Peacemaker. It would be the Peacemaker who would bring about an end to all the warring among the Iroquois Nations, and forge their unity under the creation and guidance of The Great Law of the Iroquois Confederacy.
