BIRTH OF THE GREAT LAW

| This section gives a brief account of how the Iroquois, the Haudenosaunee or People of the Longhouse, were brought out of the troubled times which had taken over their lives. It tells how the Creator sent his messenger the Peacemaker, to the warring Iroquois Nations to deliver a message of peace. This message of peace would end the wars and join the five warring nations into one confederacy. Peace came to the Iroquois people through acceptance of the Peacemakers message of peace, power and righteousness. The Peacemaker then established the Great Law of Peace. The Great Law would be the constitution of the Iroquois Confederacy. To this day the Haudenosaunee govern themselves according to the Great Law of Peace. |
